Training Programme for Teachers

To provide the best dance education for our students, Dancepointe Academy provides annual fundings for our teachers' Professional Development Courses. Yearly, our RAD teachers are sponsored for the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD, UK) courses, including the RAD syllabi for Pre Primary, Primary, Grade 1 to 5, as well as the Intermediate and Advanced levels. They are also exposed to the CSTD Contemporary and Jazz courses. These training exposes them to various styles of dance and makes them versatile teachers. Our teachers are also sponsored for our Overseas Exchange Programme to countries such as Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, Perth, Sydney,  Melbourne, London and New York.

Aspiring teachers are welcome to join our Teaching Apprentice Programme, open to trainee teachers who want to pursue their career in teaching.

Pre-requisites for our trainee teachers:

  • Minimum 18 Years Old

  • Completed full learning of RAD work from Grade 1-8

  • Attained RAD Advanced Foundation Certification

  • 2-year assistant teaching (salaried) with Dancepointe Academy

  • Added advantage for applicants with dance competition experiences

During the course of this programme, Dancepointe Academy will train trainee teachers to attain RAD Advanced 1 and 2 certification where applicable, followed by enrolling into the RAD CBTS (Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies) certification; now known as RAD CDT (Certificate in Dance Teaching, Ballet). Trainee teachers enrolled in this course will be recognised as a RAD Registered Teacher once they complete 2 years of distant learning with RAD and finish all 6 module requirements. More information regarding the RAD Teaching Certificate and its benefits can be found on their website:

 https://www.royalacademyofdance.org/programme/certificate-in-dance-teaching-ballet/

Selected Dancepointe Apprentice Teachers would be offered Mentorship under our Head of Classical Ballet or Artistic Director, and outstanding apprentices would also be offered the Dancepointe CBTS Scholarship worth $15,000. Till date, Dancepointe Academy has trained more than 20 trainee teachers from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines, who go on to become full fledged RAD teachers. Successful graduates of the RAD CBTS programme will be reviewed again, and only selected ones will be placed in our Teaching Team, in any of our 18 locations for their career growth.

The above structure applies for Contemporary and Jazz Teachers for the CSTD Teaching Programme, as well as for our HipHop faculty, 5th Avenue.

Priority will be given to DPA students before vacancies are released to other applicants.
