Dancepointe Academy’s Pre-Professional TAC Dancers Shine in China: A Cultural and Artistic Immersion in Shenyang & Beijing
In December 2024, our talented dancers from The Apprentice Company (TAC) — Dancepointe Academy’s Pre-Professional Soloist Team — embarked on an unforgettable journey to Shenyang and Beijing — an experience that combined cultural discovery with artistic growth.
This special immersion program was highlighted by an exclusive opportunity to dance and perform with the renowned Liaoning Ballet Company, one of China’s most prestigious classical ballet institutions. For our dancers, it wasn’t just about performing; it was about learning, connecting, and experiencing dance on an entirely different scale.
In Shenyang, the dancers trained under the guidance of top ballet masters at the Liaoning Ballet Company, gaining insight into the refined Russian-influenced techniques the company is known for. They participated in intensive workshops, observed company rehearsals, and were mentored by professional dancers — a truly eye-opening experience for our aspiring professionals.
The highlight of the week came when our TAC dancers were invited to perform alongside Pre-Professional students of the Liaoning Ballet Company in an intimate studio showcase. Sharing the stage with them was both humbling and exhilarating, leaving our dancers inspired and more committed than ever to their craft.
Following Shenyang, the group travelled to Beijing, where they explored the rich cultural history of China while continuing their dance training at Beijing Yuan Wu Dance School. From visiting the iconic Forbidden City to scaling the Great Wall of China, every moment was filled with learning and inspiration.
This immersion wasn’t just about dance. It was about building friendships, embracing cultural exchange, and stepping into the world of professional artistry. We’re incredibly proud of how our TAC dancers represented Dancepointe Academy with grace, discipline, and passion.
As they return to Singapore, they bring home not only new techniques and memories, but also a deeper understanding of what it means to be a dancer in today’s global stage.
