Kong Yan San

Biography

Yan San started ballet at the tender age of 3 under various teachers before joining Dancepointe Academy in 2005 under the tutelage of Miss Lena Foo and Miss Dianny Tan. She has completed her RAD syllabus up till Advanced 1 with mostly distinctions and is currently pursuing her Advanced 2 certification under Miss Ivy Ng.

Her passion in dance drove her to try out other dance forms in her youth such as Chinese Dance in Commonwealth Secondary School and Contemporary Dance in National Junior College, where she had the honour of being the Vice President and Dance Captain respectively. Additionally, she also had the opportunity to perform in large scale productions during her time with NUS Dance Synergy. To deepen her knowledge and technique for Contemporary Dance, she joined the PULSE Program with Frontier Danceland and trained under the guidance of professional contemporary artists for 2 years.

She was also part of the DPA Apprentice Team in 2014, 2017, 2023 and 2024. Under the guidance of teachers like Miss Ng Xian Cui and Ms Leia Ang, coupled with the support of Miss Lena Foo, she was given the opportunity to choreograph items which have performed well at various competitions like Get the Beat, Masterpiece Singapore and CSTD Singapore.

She is currently the assistant teacher of the West First Apprentice Team with Miss Stacey Yeo. She hopes to pass on her knowledge and experience from various platforms and teachers to her students, so as to allow them to have a well-rounded education in dance.
