Biography

To Yi Qi, dance is a found passion. She started her dance journey with Chinese Dance under Ms Jiang Bo, when her parents enrolled her under her Primary School's Alumni Chinese Dance Club. At 8, she also started her ballet training with Ms Gin Tan at The School of Dance. In 2016, she decided to pick up ballet again to hone her skills in dance - this time under Dancepointe Academy, after stopping it in 2013.

She has participated in various events such as National Day Parade, Chingay Parade, the Paralympic Closing Ceremony (2015) and the Singapore Youth Festival while she was in Nan Hua Dance Society and later Nanyang Dance Society (Contemporary). These experiences have allowed her to develop not only her versatility and breadth as a dancer, but also gradually fall in love with the art form.

In order to venture out of her comfort zone, she decided to audition for the Apprentice Company in Dancepointe, where she was accepted into Senior Apprentice and subsequently given the opportunity to try and explore more aspects of dance under the tutelage of the many mentors in Dancepointe, such as Ms Ng Xian Cui and Ms Leia Ang. Until now, she has completed the RAD Advance 1 and also managed to attain the 1st position in the GTB Contemporary Category for Duos and Trios.

Yi Qi is very thankful for the many opportunities she was given throughout her journey. She hopes to be able to share the joys of dance and help others find their passions in life.
