Biography

Ms. Sammi began her Classical ballet journey at the tender age of 3 under the guidance of Ms. Lena Foo. Her passion for ballet was ignited early, leading her to achieve significant milestones in her dance education. She has completed the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Graded syllabus in Classical ballet up to the Advanced One. Additionally, Ms. Sammi has achieved her RAD Certificate in Dance Teaching, and is a RAD-Registered ballet teacher.

Beyond her Classical ballet foundation, Ms. Sammi has broadened her dance repertoire by exploring other genres, such as Chinese dance during her school years, where she had the honour of being the Vice President. Her active participation in showcases and competitions, including earning a Distinction at the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF), underscores her versatility and commitment to excellence.

As a dancer committed to continual growth, Ms. Sammi took the initiative to join the Apprentice Competition Team in 2014. This marked an exciting new chapter in her dance journey, giving her the opportunity to participate in numerous local and international dance competitions. While Classical Ballet remains the cornerstone of her training, she has also embraced other dance styles, which includes Lyrical, Contemporary, and Jazz. She is currently a member of the Senior Apprentice Team (SA), where she continues to pursue artistic growth and excellence under the mentorship of Ms. Ng Xian Cui.

* ⁠Gold and Outstanding Award for Lyrical Troupe in Singapore Challenge Cup 2022

* ⁠2nd position for Lyrical Troupe in CSTD APDC 2023

* ⁠2nd position and Technical Excellence Award for Lyrical Troupe in Get The Beat 2024

* ⁠1st position for Lyrical Troupe in CSTD Regionals 2024

* ⁠Gold award for Lyrical Troupe and Silver Award for Lyrical Solo in Singapore Challenge Cup 2025

Beyond performing, Ms. Sammi is deeply passionate about nurturing the next generation of dancers. Since 2020, she has taken on the role of an Apprentice Teacher, sharing her knowledge, and love for dance with younger students. Since 2023, she has also worked closely with Ms. Lilian Ng to lead the West Teeny Apprentice Troupe. Under their guidance, the dancers have achieved outstanding results at competitions, including GTB and SCC.

With the guidance and mentorship of her teachers, Ms. Sammi has also begun exploring choreography, gaining opportunities to create and develop pieces for young dancers. Her choreographic works have been performed at various competitions, where her students have received recognition, including Best Performer awards.

Through teaching and her growing involvement in choreography, Ms. Sammi hopes to inspire young dancers to grow not only in their technique and artistry, but also in their confidence, discipline, and love for dance.
