Ivy Ng

Biography

Ms Ivy Ng started dancing at the age of 5, and has since attained a Major in Classical Ballet. She was enrolled into Viana Music and Ballet Academy (Malaysia) and completed the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD, UK) Classical Ballet Grades 1- 8 and its Vocational Grades up to Advanced 2. During her long years of dance training, she was part of the “Batu Dance Theatre” in Malaysia (2003), performing in several choreographies, such as “I U Night” (1998). She also performed under “Viana Music and Ballet Academy” from 1998 – 2002 in productions such as “Ti ING”(2003).

Later on, Ivy’s passion for dancing led her to join the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA

Singapore) where she attained her Dance Diploma in 2004. While pursuing this diploma, she studied many dance styles such as Contemporary, Jazz and Ethnic Dances in depth. As part of this programme, she was also actively involved in various dance performances including Chinese Culture Festival “Urban Tapestry”, Graduation Show Year 2006 “Revota”, “Aspirations Da:ns Festival in Esplanade Singapore and Bangkok. Not only did she garner vast performance experiences, Ivy was also given opportunities to choreograph various dance pieces such as “Trinity” (dancers@workinNAFA) and “Nostalgia”.

After graduating in 2007, Ivy decided to join People’s Association as a dancer in Modern

Contemporary, which provided her with greater exposure to new opportunities such as “Soundwave 2007- Singapore” and “16th Asean Summit 2007”. Besides that, she is actively involved in different dance teaching projects in MOE Schools, allowing her to gain more experience in teaching. She has since taught in numerous dance enrichment programs and Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) in schools such as Gan Eng Seng Secondary School, Pasir Ris Crest Secondary School, St Theresa Secondary School and Zhen Hua Primary School.

Ivy has also obtained the highest RAD Vocational Graded – Advanced 2, under our founder, Ms Lena Foo and was given the opportunity to join Dancepointe Singapore as a Classical Ballet Teacher. Striving to be a versatile teacher, she has also obtained certifications in Jazz, completing the Australian Teachers of Dance (ATOD) Jazz Gold Star level. 

Additionally, Ivy also attained 2nd place in competitions such as the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) and Get The Beat (GTB) in 2018 as well as 1st and 2nd places for GTB and CSTD 2019 respectively. She also led the Youth Apprentice Competition Team since 2021 and has achieved placings in various competitions such as Dancepointe Academy Dance Challenge (DPADC), GTB, Singapore Challenge Cup Dance Competition (SCCDC), Masterpiece International Ballet Competition (MIBC), Asia Pacific Dance Competition (APDC) and CSTD Regionals.

Ms Ivy Ng was among others who have received the Dancepointe RAD CBTS Sponsorship and has completed her Royal Academy of Dance Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (RAD CBTS), under the tutelage of Ms Lena Foo and is currently appointed as a Registered Teacher of the RAD. We thank her for her contributions to DPA for the past 17 years.
