Biography


Gan Hua Hooi Gan grew up in Malaysia where she began her ballet training at the age of 3. Through years of training she passed the RAD Graded with Distinction through Advanced 1. She graduated in 2014 with a Degree in Dance from Joffrey Ballet @ NYC.


She won 2nd and 3rd place in the 12th and 13th Classical Ballet Competition hosted by the Dance Society of Malaysia, a result which awarded her a full year of training at Era Ballet School in Japan.


In 2011, she was offered a spot at the prestigious Joffrey Ballet School in New York City under the direction of Robert Ray and Era Jouravlev, where she attended school through 2016. The last 3 years of her training was awarded with a full scholarship. Upon graduation, she has performed many lead roles such as Sugar Plum Fairy, Columbine, and Soldier Doll in Robert Ray’s Nutcracker, Cupid in Don Quixote staged by Era Jouravlev, Gerald Arpino’s Viva Vivaldi and Birthday Variations staged by Nicole Duffy.


Her last two years in NYC, Hua Hooi also had the privilege to work with choreographer Frederick Earl Mosley and performed his works at Modern Dance Festival in Bryant Park as well as the Brooklyn Museum.


Hua Hooi’s other achievements include: ABT Certified Teacher – Pre-primary to Level 7 and partnering.


She is now based in Dancepointe @ Shenyang teaching the Children RAD Ballet .
