Biography
Ms Annie is a registered Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) teacher who attained her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS).
With over a decade of teaching experience in Classical Ballet, Ms Annie has a deep interest in both the RAD syllabus and the Vaganova Russian Ballet method. She is well-versed in RAD graded and vocational syllabi, and is also familiar with the expectations and training approach of Vaganova studies.
Trained from a young age in the RAD syllabus under veteran teacher Ms Sylvia Anne McCully, a pioneer of ballet in Singapore, Ms Annie built a strong classical foundation which she now carries into her own teaching practice. She later trained under various teachers, including Ms Lena Foo, Artistic Director of Dancepointe Academy, who provided her with teaching opportunities and helped uncover her passion for dance education.
As a student, Ms Annie trained up to RAD Advanced 2, attaining Distinctions in her RAD examinations. She also attended RAD Summer School and continues to pursue professional development to stay updated with current industry knowledge. Her training includes the Royal Ballet School’s online courses, led by notable faculty members such as former Artistic Director Christopher Powney, Artistic Manager José Carayol, and Teacher Training Manager Sarah Daultry.
As a Vaganova practitioner, Ms Annie actively trains under the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Teacher Training Seminar in Ballet and Character Dance, conducted in partnership with Russian Ballet International. Her training includes instruction from Professor Natalya Igorevna Revich and master teachers including Olga Dozortseva and Ekaterina Trunina. She currently holds a Level 6 Advanced Proficiency Certification, the highest available standard for international teachers, and is certified to prepare students for international Vaganova-based examinations.
In addition to her teaching credentials, Ms Annie has extensive stage experience in full-length ballet productions and school productions such as Paquita and Coppélia. She was also an active competitor in ballet solo, duo, and trio categories, with notable achievements including Pre-Professional Rank 1 at Canaan Dance Competition, Silver Award at Singapore Challenge Cup, and Gold Award at Get The Beat Competition.
As an Elite Competition Dance Teacher, Ms Annie spearheaded and pioneered elite group training for students aged 5 to 15 years old. With her specialised knowledge in Classical Ballet training methodologies, she has coached young ballet soloists, some as young as 6 years old, to achieve top placements and Gold awards at competitions such as Asia Arts Festival, Asian Ballet Competition Thailand, International Ballet Grand Prix Malaysia and Singapore, and International Arts Festival.
Through a comprehensive, disciplined, and precise approach, Ms Annie aims to develop dancers who are technically strong, expressive, and confident. She is committed to nurturing every student’s growth, helping them thrive both on and off stage.
