Kathryn Cheng

Ballet Piano Accompanist

Kathryn was born and raised in Singapore, starting classical piano from a young age. She trained in ABRSM and achieved a Grade 8 in Piano and Music Theory. After her O Levels, Kathryn made the decision to pursue her passion in music, and applied for the Diploma in Music and Audio Technology at Singapore Polytechnic. After graduation, she was accepted into the Berklee College of Music to pursue a Bachelors in Music Technology, She eventually graduated summa cum laude with a dual specialization in Electronic Music Production and Film Scoring.


Throughout Kathryn’s career, she has been active in producing music and sound design for visual media such as video games and short films. Some of her voice acting and sound design work can be found in Armagallent: Decks of Destiny, Guns of Icarus, and XCOM: The Bureau.


In 2011, Kathryn penned the song “Heaven On Earth” which one first place in the Clean And Green Singapore campaign organized by the NEA.


In 2015, Kathryn submitted orchestral arrangements which were featured in the SG50 National Day Parade, and in the 28th SEA Games.


Kathryn has been serving as the assistant music director at the Methodist School of Music, where she advises on matters relating to music technology and acoustics. She has also produced orchestral arrangements of hymns and sacred music in the service of various church events and ceremonies.

During the COVID-19 period, Kathryn’s music technology experience proved invaluable, as she was tasked with mixing and organizing numerous Zoom-based webinars and concerts.


Kathryn also runs a youtube channel under the name SquareDeLune, where she posts piano arrangements of popular songs.


Kathryn’s love for performance fuels her passion for serving at Dancepointe Academy as a ballet accompanist. With her multifaceted experiences gained from many sides of the music industry, Kathryn hopes to inspire and enrich the experiences of staff and students for years to come.
